Jamie Dornan and Peter Dinklage are coming together in a new HBO movie which is called My Dinner With Herve. One plays a famous celebrity dwarf and the other a struggling journalist.
Hervé Villechaize was once the most famous dwarf in the world. He gained global recognition for his roles in The Man With the Golden Gun and the TV series Fantasy Island before he died by suicide in 1993. HBO’s upcoming movie tells the story of what happened when Villechaize formed a one-night friendship with struggling journalist Danny Tate shortly before his death.
My Dinner With Herve will be starring Peter Dinklage (most commonly known from his role as Tyrion Lannister on Game of Thrones) as Hervé Villechaize and Jamie Dornan as Tate, and both of them appear to be wearing full early-90s regalia in the first-look photo HBO recently released. The film will be written and directed by Sacha Gervasi.
Gervasi was actually the last person to interview Villechaize before his death. The Tate role is informed by his real-life experiences, and as such, the night in question has life-changing consequences for both involved.
My Dinner With Herve is still in production and currently does not have a release date.
